Festive Treats: Mulled Cider

So it's just over a month till Christmas so I thought it's about time I started with the festive posts!
Now I love mulled wine over this wonderful season, but this year I thought I would try mulled cider. Read on for this deliciously warm and festively sweet drink.

What you'll need:
- Saucepan
- Measuring Jug
- Wooden Spoon
- 2 Litres of Apple Cider
- 2 Cinnamon Sticks
- 2 Cloves
- 2 Star Aniseed Whole
- 200ml of Spiced Rum

The brands I have used in this blog do not have to be adhered to, I simply used what I already had in the house. But if you need to go to the supermarket for any of these items, most grocery stores will have their own cheaper brands and deals of their own.

Firstly pour the 2 litres of apple cider into the saucepan (measure 2 litres out in a jug if you do not have a 2 litre bottle)and put the heat to simmer on the stove. Stir while warming the cider, then add 2 cinnamon sticks and 1/2 a teaspoon of cloves, keep stirring to release the flavours.

Next simply add 200ml of spiced rum and 2 whole aniseed stars, stir once more. Cover the saucepan and leave to simmer for 20-30 minutes. After the time is up simply pour into your favourite mug and enjoy, I opted for a festive snowman mug to make it feel even more like Christmas!
